What makes you love this?
Dear Friends and Fellow Travelers,
It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance, and thank you for kindly taking the time to scope out my profile here on Learnivore. My name is Kyle Peter Rotolo. I'm a composer, songwriter, producer, and guitarist with experience teaching for institutions of higher education as well as working with independent students at the outset of their journeys. I enjoy working with artists of many different ages, backgrounds, and perspectives, from middle school beginners to undergraduate music majors, from those who are expert sight readers to those who prefer their own methods.
I will work hard to understand your musical language, not dictate my own to you.
From my high school years learning Jeff Beck riffs to my doctoral studies in contemporary composition, music for film and visual media, electronic and computer music, and music theory, I have many influences and curiosities that play a role in my creative life. Warren Zevon and Elvis Costello are artists I've emulated. During my undergraduate career, I took to Palestrina and Mozart, as well as the raucous brilliance of the contemporary Christopher Rouse.
You'll probably hear me make a reference to a movie in one of our lessons. As a film studies minor in college, I delved into the art of filmmaking, and the scores of Anne Dudley and John Williams. Some of my favorite movies: Sunset Boulevard, E.T., and Casino.
Don't recognize any of the names I've listed? That's ok! I want to know what your tastes are. I'm sure you can teach me a thing or two.
Access to music education is not a luxury, but a necessity. It is my mission as an educator to provide a fair and equitable way for people to acquire the ability to play, write, and deepen their appreciation for this art form. Please contact me and let me know how I may best accommodate you in your studies and meet your needs.
Sincerely,
Kyle R.
